Elemental Nights 2023 Second & Final Line-up Announcement
Fazerdaze, Kirin J Callinan and There's A Tuesday added to world-class winter concert series.
AUCKLAND, NZ – Thursday, June 1, 2023: – Live Nation in association with Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, is thrilled to announce the second line-up for Elemental Nights 2023 as part of Elemental AKL.
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fazerdaze (NZ); Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist Kirin J Callinan (AU) and four piece indie dream-pop band There’s A Tuesday (NZ) will join the Elemental Nights line-up in August. All three shows will be taking place in an exciting, exclusive venue new to Elemental Nights - the Mount Albert War Memorial Hall.
Tāmaki Makaurau’s most iconic venues transform into temporary works of art, with the midwinter concert series bringing a line-up of local and international world class artists to Auckland. Elemental Nights has previously transformed Auckland's hidden gems into live music venues, including Hopetoun Alpha, St Matthews in the City and the Titirangi War Memorial Hall. Rarely used for live shows, the Mount Albert War Memorial Hall is a beautiful modernist building and will join these special venues in a rare opportunity to witness the stunning space as a live music venue.
These new shows are the final addition to the already announced line-up of UK rock band IDLES, Mercury Prize nominated rapper Loyle Carner, Swedish pop superstar Tove Lo, and Aotearoa’s own Bic Runga presenting the 20th anniversary of her album ‘Beautiful Collision’. Joining the already announced line-up are Georgia Lines (NZ) with Bic Runga, and MAY-A (AU) joining Tove Lo at their Elemental Nights shows.
Tickets for all shows go on sale at 12pm Friday, June 2 through elementalnights.com & livenation.co.nz
Ahead of her Europe and UK tour, songwriter and producer Fazerdaze will bring a very special solo show to the beautiful venue on Thursday August 3, followed by Australian Kirin J Callinan on Friday August 4 as part of his New Zealand tour, presenting his new album ‘If I Could Sing’. In an all ages show, There’s A Tuesday will take the Mount Albert War Memorial Hall stage on Saturday, August 5 along with Molly Payton (solo) and Heidi Simpson.
Fazerdaze (AKA Amelia Murray) has returned to the music scene after a 5-year hiatus between her last project ‘Morningside’. Returning with ‘Break!’, the EP marks the beginning of a new era for the multi-talented creative: it’s a grungier, angrier version of the artist who burst onto the scene in 2017 with a catchy dream-pop sound. She returns better than ever after an inward journey of self-reflection and reconnection to herself after a whirlwind of pandemic anxiety and health issues. She’s caught the attention of music industry big leagues including Pitchfork and MOJO, and performed across the world, including opening for Haim, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and The XX.
Provocative Australian Kirin J Callinan’s most recent single “ANÆMIC ADONIS (you made me a promise)” came with an AI-assisted music video. A founding member of Mercy Arms, Callinan is known for his confrontational live shows and varied musical styles, once described as darting from evocative electro-pop to arty, experimental rock and everything in between. He joins Elemental Night as part of his New Zealand tour to promote his new upcoming album ‘If I Could Sing’, out Friday June 23.
Indie folk band There’s A Tuesday have been on a steady rise since taking out the nationwide title in the Smokefree Rockquest in 2019, proving their musical abilities on a massive scale. Tipped as ones to watch, the four-piece band released their debut EP ‘Dance With Me Before We Cry’ in 2020, before embarking on a national headline tour around the country. Signed by fellow Laneway alum BENEE on her Olive Records label, the were nominated for the 2022 APRA Silver Scroll Award for their tune “Girl at Night”, lifted from their recent EP ‘Boy Scout’. They’re joined by Molly Payton (solo) and Heidi Simpson in this all ages show.
Designed, produced and promoted by Live Nation, these unique and spectacular nights should not be missed.
Live Nation New Zealand’s Head Promoter Renée Hermsen says, “Thanks to the support from Tātaki Unlimited we are bringing Elemental Nights back for the fourth time, and we couldn’t be more excited. This is our biggest line up yet, with a slate of international and domestic super stars you only get a chance to see this winter, here in Tāmaki Makaurau.”
