Beloved Children's Entertainer, Emma Memma Announces New Shows in Canberra and Albury Due to Overwhelming Demand!

MELBOURNE, AU (JUNE, 11 2024) – ARIA award-winning children’s musical spectacular, EMMA MEMMA is heading back out on her big, bright, orange Butterfly Bus to tour around the country bringing the Boop and Twirl Tour to Aussie families far and wide. Children across Australia will get to sing, dance and sign with Emma Memma and her friends, Elvin Melvin, BB Butterfly, Waffles the Wombat and their favourite Memma Mates!

The additional shows are confirmed for Canberra Theatre Centre, Canberra on Saturday 9 November, and Albury Entertainment Centre, Albury on Sunday 10 November, as well as an additional show time at Civic Hall in Ballarat on Tuesday 1 October, tickets go on sale today Tuesday 11 June at 12pm local. 

Due to demand, new show times have also been added to dates in Perth, Hobart, Adelaide, Toowoomba, Thirroul, Moonee Ponds, Geelong, Dandenong, Chatswood, and Sutherland, tickets for these are on sale now.

Families will be treated to a sprinkling of Emma Memma’s classic songs on the Boop and Twirl Tour as well as new favourites like ‘Pasta Necklace’, ‘Twirl Twirl with Emma’ and ‘Boop on the Nose’ that are all featured on Emma Memma’s YouTube Channel here and the new ‘Twirly Tunes’ album.

We have had such a lovely year meeting so many families at preschools, libraries and events around the country but now it’s time to dance! Empowering the next generation through movement, creativity, inclusiveness and friendship, Emma Memma with her love of dance, sign language and music, brings visual communication to the forefront of the children’s media space and fans will get to immerse themselves in this joyful experience on Emma Memma’s Boop and Twirl Tour. Each 45-minute show will include an Auslan Interpreter and Emma and Elvin will sign, sing and dance throughout the entire performance providing English and Auslan to the audience.

EMMA WATKINS BIO

Renowned children’s entertainer with a focus on integrated accessibility through visual communication combined with creative children's screen media.

Dancer and filmmaker, Emma Watkins, began her performance career early from the age of 3, nurturing her love of dance and movement, performing ballet, Irish, hip-hop, tap and contemporary dance at The McDonald College for Performing Arts and ED5 International in Sydney. Emma found a love for film editing during her time at Sydney Film School and completed her masters in Media Arts and Production at UTS. After dancing in productions around Australia, France, India, Canada, China and New Zealand, Emma joined Australian children’s entertainment group, The Wiggles in 2010, becoming the first female Wiggle in the main line-up.

Emma’s passion for movement and body expression expanded to an interest in sign language and raising awareness of Australia's Deaf community since she was young. Ever since, Emma pursued studying sign language, with a Diploma of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and Diploma in Interpreting at Deaf Connect. She currently sits on the advisory board for the Australian Government, the 'Early Years Strategy' focusing on children's needs and family services for future policies.

Emma has recently completed her PhD at Macquarie University combining all her passions, focusing on the affective and artistic integrations of sign language, dance and film editing. Currently, Emma is touring the nation and abroad with her new children's entertainment venture 'Emma Memma', winning the ARIA award for Best Children's Album in 2023. 'Emma Memma' features Emma and Deaf dancer and artist, Elvin Lam (Elvin Melvin) highlighting visual language for preschoolers and their family network to give them the skills to communicate through sign and gesture.
