Paul Weller announces his return to the Opera House in an Australian exclusive

SYDNEY, WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 27: – British icon Paul Weller will take over the acoustically-transformed Concert Hall in February 2024, when he makes his only Australian appearance playing three Concert Hall performances in-the-round.

Paul Weller has said:

Weller first gained prominence in the late 70s and early 80s as the frontman of the punk-rock trio, The Jam. The band's sound reflected a generation experiencing political and social upheaval, with hits like ‘Town Called Malice’ cementing his reputation as a charismatic and instrumental figure in the punk and new wave scene.

Following the dissolution of The Jam, Weller embarked on a new musical journey with The Style Council, a project that delved into soul, jazz, and pop influences and in 1992 Weller established himself as a leading solo artist with the release of his eponymous self-titled album, further showcasing his openness to experiment with diverse sounds.

To date he has notched up an astonishing fifty seven top 40 hit singles, including four number ones. He’s had twenty six top 40 albums and been involved in countless collaborations along the way, with such luminaries as Pete Townsend, Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher and Steve Winwood, to name just a few.

With his solo career now spanning decades, Weller continues to evolve and adapt his musical style, blending rock, folk, soul, and R&B elements into his own unique sound, at the same time reflecting an ever-changing cultural landscape. Because of this, Weller remains a timeless artist with an enduring impact and we are thrilled to welcome him back for his first visit since his sold out 2018 Opera House debut.
