Morrissey: 40 Years Of Morrissey Australian & New Zealand tour dates announced
MELBOURNE, AU (TUESDAY, 8 AUGUST, 2023) – Morrissey is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in British pop, as well as one of the greatest lyricists of his generation, and today he has announced Australian and New Zealand headline shows in December for the ‘40 Years Of Morrissey’ tour.
The tour, showcasing 40 Years of Morrissey, will start at Perth Concert Hall on December 1, followed by two Palais Theatre shows in Melbourne December 4 and 5, a Fortitude Music Hall show in Brisbane on December 8, before finishing in Australia with two Sydney State Theatre shows on December 10 and 11. Morrissey then heads to Auckland December 14.
Each night on this tour will highlight the fan-favourite songs that made you cry and the songs that saved your life, spanning from the early days of The Smiths through to today.
Tickets are on sale at 9am (local time) on Friday 11 August from livenation.com.au and livenation.co.nz.
My Live Nation members can be amongst the first to access tickets in the My Live Nation resale available at 9am (local time) on Thursday 10 August until 8am (local time) on Friday 11 August.
His influence and music legacy are irrefutable. Morrissey has released thirteen solo studio albums, achieved a string of no.1 records, and been presented with an Ivor Nostello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music.
As lead singer of The Smiths, he marked forever the history of music with only four albums. As a soloist he has consolidated a sound that still reverberates today with his forthcoming album Without Music The World Dies, an explicit declaration of love for music, which has made him one of the most acclaimed voices of the last four decades.
When the debut single from The Smiths, “Hand In Glove,” first emerged 40 years ago, the musical landscape was forever changed and launched a rich catalogue of songs that includes anthems such as “This Charming Man,” “How Soon Is Now?,” “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out,” “Suedehead,” “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” “Irish Blood, English Heart,” “First of the Gang to Die,” and many many more.
This tour will be a celebration of songs that have resonated with fans worldwide for 40 years.
